The Apostles/əˈpɒsl/'Creed

1. 我信上帝，全能的父，是创造天地的主。

I believe in God, Father Almighty, Creator of heavens and earth;

2. 我信我主耶稣基督，是上帝的独生子；

I believe in Jesus Christ, His only begotten Son, our Lord,

3. 因圣灵感孕，由童贞女马利亚所生。

conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, given birth through Virgin /'və:dʒin/  Mary,

4. 在本丢·彼拉多手下受难，被钉在十字架上，受死，埋葬；

Suffered /ˈsʌfəd/ under Potius Pilate, was crucified /ˈkruːsɪfaɪd/, died and buried /ˈberid/;

5. 降在阴间；第三日从死人中复活；

He was descended /dɪˈsendɪd/ into the Death, and the third day was raised again from the dead.

6. 祂升天，坐在全能父上帝的右边；

He ascended /əˈsendɪd/ into the Heaven, seated at the right hand of Father Almighty,

7. 将来必从那里降临，审判活人死人。

and will come back from there to judge the living and the dead.

8. 我信圣灵；

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

9. 我信圣而公之教会；我信圣徒相通；

the holy universal Church /tʃɜːtʃ/, the communion of the saints /seɪnts/,

10. 我信罪得赦免；

the forgiveness of sins,

11. 我信身体复活；

the resurrection /ˌrezəˈrekʃ(ə)n/ of the body,

12. 我信永生。阿们！

and the life everlasting. Amen!

Bible:exodus 20:1-17

20:1 And God spoke all these words:

20:2 "I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.

我是耶和华你的 神，曾将你从埃及地为奴之家领出来。

20:3 "You shall have no other gods before me.

“除了我以外，你不可有别的神。

20:4 "You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.

“不可为自己雕刻偶像；也不可作什么形像彷佛上天、下地和地底下、水中的百物。

20:5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,

不可跪拜那些像；也不可侍奉它，因为我耶和华你的 神，是忌邪的 神。恨我的，我必追讨他的罪，自父及子，直到三四代；

20:6 but showing love to a thousand of those who love me and keep my commandments.

爱我、守我诫命的，我必向他们发慈爱，直到千代。

20:7 "You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God, for the LORD will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.

“不可妄称耶和华你 神的名；因为妄称耶和华名的，耶和华必不以他为无罪。

20:8 "Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.

“当记念安息日，守为圣日。

20:9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work,

六日要劳碌作你一切的工，

20:10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your animals, nor the alien within your gates.

但第七日是向耶和华你 神当守的安息日。这一日你和你的儿女、仆婢、牲畜，并你城里寄居的客旅，无论何工都不可作，

20:11 For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

因为六日之内，耶和华造天、地、海和其中的万物，第七日便安息，所以耶和华赐福与安息日，定为圣日。

20:12 "Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you.

“当孝敬父母，使你的日子在耶和华你 神所赐你的地上得以长久。

20:13 "You shall not murder.

“不可杀人。

20:14 "You shall not commit adultery.

“不可奸淫。

20:15 "You shall not steal.

“不可偷盗。

20:16 "You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.

“不可作假见证陷害人。

20:17 "You shall not covet your neighbor's house. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor."

“不可贪恋人的房屋；也不可贪恋人的妻子、仆婢、牛驴，并他一切所有的。”

Bible: genesis 11: 7-9 

11:7 Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other."

我们下去，在那里变乱他们的口音，使他们的言语彼此不通。”

11:8 So the LORD scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city.

于是，耶和华使他们从那里分散在全地上，他们就停工不造那城了。

11:9 That is why it was called Babel --because there the LORD confused the language of the whole world. From there the LORD scattered them over the face of the whole earth.

因为耶和华在那里变乱天下人的言语，使众人分散在全地上，所以那城名叫巴别（就是“变乱”的意思）。

Bible: 2 samuel: 1: 10-16

撒母耳记下

1:10 "So I stood over him and killed him, because I knew that after he had fallen he could not survive. And I took the crown that was on his head and the band on his arm and have brought them here to my lord."

我准知他仆倒必不能活，就去将他杀死，把他头上的冠冕、臂上的镯子，拿到我主这里。”

1:11 Then David and all the men with him took hold of their clothes and tore them.

大卫就撕裂衣服，跟随他的人也是如此。

1:12 They mourned and wept and fasted till evening for Saul and his son Jonathan, and for the army of the LORD and the house of Israel, because they had fallen by the sword.

而且悲哀、哭号、禁食到晚上，是因扫罗和他儿子约拿单，并耶和华的民以色列家的人倒在刀下。

1:13 David said to the young man who brought him the report, "Where are you from?" "I am the son of an alien, an Amalekite," he answered.

大卫问报信的少年人说：“你是哪里的人？”他说：“我是亚玛力客人的儿子。”

1:14 David asked him, "Why were you not afraid to lift your hand to destroy the LORD's anointed?"

大卫说：“你伸手杀害耶和华的受膏者，怎么不畏惧呢？”

1:15 Then David called one of his men and said, "Go, strike him down!" So he struck him down, and he died.

大卫叫了一个少年人来，说：“你去杀他吧！”

1:16 For David had said to him, "Your blood be on your own head. Your own mouth testified against you when you said, `I killed the LORD's anointed.'"

大卫对他说：“你流人血的罪归到自己的头上，因为你亲口作见证说：‘我杀了耶和华的受膏者。’”少年人就把他杀了。

撒母耳记上

2:3 "Do not keep talking so proudly or let your mouth speak such arrogance, for the LORD is a God who knows, and by him deeds are weighed.

人不要夸口说骄傲的话，也不要出狂妄的言语，因耶和华是大有智识的 神，人的行为被他衡量。

2:6 "The LORD brings death and makes alive; he brings down to the grave and raises up.

耶和华使人死，也使人活；使人下阴间，也使人往上升。

2:7 The LORD sends poverty and wealth; he humbles and he exalts.

他使人贫穷，也使人富足；使人卑微，也使人高贵。

2:8 He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap; he seats them with princes and has them inherit a throne of honor. "For the foundations of the earth are the LORD's; upon them he has set the world.

他从灰尘里抬举贫寒人，从粪堆中提拔穷乏人，使他们与王子同坐，得着荣耀的座位。地的柱子属于耶和华，他将世界立在其上。

Bible: 1 samuel : 8:4-21

撒母耳记上

8:4 So all the elders of Israel gathered together and came to Samuel at Ramah.

以色列的长老都聚集，来到拉玛见撒母耳，

8:5 They said to him, "You are old, and your sons do not walk in your ways; now appoint a king to lead us, such as all the other nations have."

对他说：“你年纪老迈了，你儿子不行你的道。现在求你为我们立一个王治理我们，像列国一样。”

8:6 But when they said, "Give us a king to lead us," this displeased Samuel; so he prayed to the LORD.

撒母耳不喜悦他们说立一个王治理我们，他就祷告耶和华。

8:7 And the LORD told him: "Listen to all that the people are saying to you; it is not you they have rejected, but they have rejected me as their king.

耶和华对撒母耳说：“百姓向你说的一切话，你只管依从，因为他们不是厌弃你，乃是厌弃我，不要我作他们的王。

8:8 As they have done from the day I brought them up out of Egypt until this day, forsaking me and serving other gods, so they are doing to you.

自从我领他们出埃及到如今，他们常常离弃我，侍奉别神。现在他们向你所行的，是照他们素来所行的。

8:9 Now listen to them; but warn them solemnly and let them know what the king who will reign over them will do."

故此你要依从他们的话，只是当警戒他们，告诉他们将来那王怎样管辖他们。”

8:10 Samuel told all the words of the LORD to the people who were asking him for a king.

撒母耳将耶和华的话都传给求他立王的百姓，说：

8:11 He said, "This is what the king who will reign over you will do: He will take your sons and make them serve with his chariots and horses, and they will run in front of his chariots.

“管辖你们的王必这样行：他必派你们的儿子为他赶车、跟马，奔走在车前；

8:12 Some he will assign to be commanders of thousands and commanders of fifties, and others to plow his ground and reap his harvest, and still others to make weapons of war and equipment for his chariots.

又派他们作千夫长、五十夫长，为他耕种田地，收割庄稼，打造军器和车上的器械；

8:13 He will take your daughters to be perfumers and cooks and bakers.

必取你们的女儿为他制造香膏，作饭烤饼；

8:14 He will take the best of your fields and vineyards and olive groves and give them to his attendants.

也必取你们最好的田地、葡萄园、橄榄园，赐给他的臣仆。

8:15 He will take a tenth of your grain and of your vintage and give it to his officials and attendants.

你们的粮食和葡萄园所出的，他必取十分之一给他的太监和臣仆；

8:16 Your menservants and maidservants and the best of your cattle and donkeys he will take for his own use.

又必取你们的仆人婢女、健壮的少年人和你们的驴，供他的差役。

8:17 He will take a tenth of your flocks, and you yourselves will become his slaves.

你们的羊群，他必取十分之一，你们也必作他的仆人。

8:18 When that day comes, you will cry out for relief from the king you have chosen, and the LORD will not answer you in that day."

那时你们必因所选的王哀求耶和华，耶和华却不应允你们。”

8:19 But the people refused to listen to Samuel. "No!" they said. "We want a king over us.

百姓竟不肯听撒母耳的话，说：“不然。我们定要一个王治理我们，

8:20 Then we will be like all the other nations, with a king to lead us and to go out before us and fight our battles."

使我们像列国一样，有王治理我们，统领我们，为我们争战。”

8:21 When Samuel heard all that the people said, he repeated it before the LORD.

撒母耳听见百姓这一切话，就将这话陈明在耶和华面前。

8:22 The LORD answered, "Listen to them and give them a king." Then Samuel said to the men of Israel, "Everyone go back to his town."

耶和华对撒母耳说：“你只管依从他们的话，为他们立王。”撒母耳对以色列人说：“你们各归各城去吧！”

Bible: ecclesiastes

1:1 The words of the Teacher, son of David, king in Jerusalem:

在耶路撒冷作王，大卫的儿子传道者的言语。

1:2 "Meaningless! Meaningless!" says the Teacher. "Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless."

传道者说:虚空的虚空，虚空的虚空,凡事都是虚空。

1:3 What does man gain from all his labor/ˈleɪbə(r)/ at which he toils /tɔɪlz/ under the sun?

人一切的劳碌，就是他在日光之下的劳碌，有什么益处呢？

1:4 Generations come and generations go, but the earth remains forever.

一代过去，一代又来，地却永远长存。

1:5 The sun rises and the sun sets, and hurries back to where it rises /ˈraɪzɪz/ .

日头出来，日头落下，急归所出之地。

1:6 The wind blows to the south and turns to the north; round and round it goes, ever returning on its course /kɔːrs/ .

风往南刮，又向北转，不住地旋转，而且返回转行原道。

1:7 All streams flow into the sea, yet the sea is never full. To the place the streams come from, there they return again.

江河都往海里流，海却不满；江河从何处流，仍归还何处。

1:8 All things are wearisome /ˈwɪrisəm/, more than one can say. The eye never has enough of seeing, nor /nɔːr/  the ear its fill of hearing /ˈhɪrɪŋ/ .

万事令人厌烦（或作“万物满有困乏”），人不能说尽。眼看，看不饱；耳听，听不足。

1:9 What has been will be again, what has been done /dʌn/ will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.

已有的事，后必再有；已行的事，后必再行。日光之下，并无新事。

1:10 Is there anything of which one can say, "Look! This is something new"? It was here already, long ago; it was here before our time.

岂有一件事人能指着说这是新的？哪知，在我们以前的世代，早已有了。

1:11 There is no remembrance /rɪˈmembrəns/ of men of old, and even those who are yet to come will not be remembered by those who follow.

已过的世代，无人记念；将来的世代，后来的人也不记念。

1:12 I, the Teacher, was king over Israel in Jerusalem.

我传道者在耶路撒冷作过以色列的王。

1:13  I devoted myself to study and to explore /ɪkˈsplɔːr/ by wisdom /ɪkˈsplɔːr/ all that is done under heaven. What a heavy burden /ɪkˈsplɔːr/ God has laid on men!

我专心用智慧寻求查究天下所作的一切事，乃知 神叫世人所经练的是极重的劳苦。

1:14 I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing /ˈtʃeɪsɪŋ/  after the wind.

我见日光之下所作的一切事，都是虚空，都是捕风。

1:15 What is twisted cannot be straightened /ˈstreɪtnd/;  what is lacking cannot be counted.

弯曲的不能变直，缺少的不能足数。

1:16 I thought to myself, "Look, I have grown /ɡroʊn/ and increased in wisdom more than anyone who has ruled over Jerusalem before me; I have experienced /ɡroʊn/ much of wisdom and knowledge."

我心里议论说，我得了大智慧，胜过我以前在耶路撒冷的众人，而且我心中多经历智慧和知识的事。

1:17 Then I applied myself to the understanding of wisdom, and also of madness and folly, but I learned /ˈlɜːrnɪd/ that this, too, is a chasing after the wind.

我又专心察明智慧、狂妄和愚昧，乃知这也是捕风。

1:18 For with much wisdom comes much sorrow; the more knowledge, the more grief /ɡriːf/ .

因为多有智慧，就多有愁烦；加增知识的，就加增忧伤。

2:1 I thought in my heart, "Come now, I will test you with pleasure /ˈpleʒər/ to find out what is good." But that also proved /pruːvd/ to be meaningless.

我心里说：来吧！我以喜乐试试你，你好享福。谁知，这也是虚空。

2:2 "Laughter," I said, "is foolish. And what does pleasure accomplish?"

我指嬉笑说：这是狂妄；论喜乐说：有何功效呢？

2:3 I tried cheering myself with wine, and embracing folly--my mind still guiding me with wisdom. I wanted to see what was worthwhile for men to do under heaven during the few days of their lives.

我心里察究，如何用酒使我肉体舒畅，我心却仍以智慧引导我；又如何持住愚昧，等我看明世人，在天下一生当行何事为美。

2:4 I undertook great projects: I built houses for myself and planted vineyards.

我为自己动大工程，建造房屋，栽种葡萄园；

2:5 I made gardens and parks and planted all kinds of fruit trees in them.

修造园囿，在其中栽种各样果木树；

2:6 I made reservoirs to water groves of flourishing trees.

挖造水池，用以浇灌嫩小的树木。

2:7 I bought male and female slaves and had other slaves who were born in my house. I also owned more herds and flocks than anyone in Jerusalem before me.

我买了仆婢，也有生在家中的仆婢；又有许多牛群羊群，胜过以前在耶路撒冷众人所有的。

2:8 I amassed silver and gold for myself, and the treasure of kings and provinces. I acquired men and women singers, and a harem as well--the delights of the heart of man.

我又为自己积蓄金银和君王的财宝，并各省的财宝；又得唱歌的男女和世人所喜爱的物，并许多的妃嫔。

2:9 I became greater by far than anyone in Jerusalem before me. In all this my wisdom stayed with me.

这样，我就日见昌盛，胜过以前在耶路撒冷的众人。我的智慧仍然存留。

2:10 I denied myself nothing my eyes desired; I refused my heart no pleasure. My heart took delight in all my work, and this was the reward for all my labor.

凡我眼所求的，我没有留下不给他的；我心所乐的，我没有禁止不享受的；因我的心为我一切所劳碌的快乐，这就是我从劳碌中所得的份。

2:11 Yet when I surveyed all that my hands had done and what I had toiled to achieve, everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind; nothing was gained under the sun.

后来，我察看我手所经营的一切事和我劳碌所成的功，谁知都是虚空，都是捕风，在日光之下毫无益处。

2:12 Then I turned my thoughts to consider wisdom, and also madness and folly. What more can the king's successor do than what has already been done?

我转念观看智慧、狂妄和愚昧。在王以后而来的人还能作什么呢？也不过行早先所行的就是了。

2:13 I saw that wisdom is better than folly, just as light is better than darkness.

我便看出智慧胜过愚昧，如同光明胜过黑暗。

2:14 The wise man has eyes in his head, while the fool walks in the darkness; but I came to realize that the same fate overtakes them both.

智慧人的眼目光明（“光明”原文作“在他头上”）；愚昧人在黑暗里行。我却看明有一件事，这两等人都必遇见。

2:15 Then I thought in my heart, "The fate of the fool will overtake me also. What then do I gain by being wise?" I said in my heart, "This too is meaningless."

我就心里说：愚昧人所遇见的，我也必遇见，我为何更有智慧呢？我心里说：这也是虚空。

2:16 For the wise man, like the fool, will not be long remembered; in days to come both will be forgotten. Like the fool, the wise man too must die!

智慧人和愚昧人一样，永远无人记念，因为日后都被忘记；可叹智慧人死亡，与愚昧人无异。

2:17 So I hated life, because the work that is done under the sun was grievous to me. All of it is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.

我所以恨恶生命，因为在日光之下所行的事，我都以为烦恼，都是虚空，都是捕风。

2:18 I hated all the things I had toiled for under the sun, because I must leave them to the one who comes after me.

我恨恶一切的劳碌，就是我在日光之下的劳碌，因为我得来的必留给我以后的人。

2:19 And who knows whether he will be a wise man or a fool? Yet he will have control over all the work into which I have poured my effort and skill under the sun. This too is meaningless.

那人是智慧，是愚昧，谁能知道？他竟要管理我劳碌所得的，就是我在日光之下用智慧所得的。这也是虚空。

2:20 So my heart began to despair over all my toilsome labor under the sun.

故此，我转想我在日光之下所劳碌的一切工作，心便绝望。

2:21 For a man may do his work with wisdom, knowledge and skill, and then he must leave all he owns to someone who has not worked for it. This too is meaningless and a great misfortune.

因为有人用智慧、知识、灵巧所劳碌得来的，却要留给未曾劳碌的人为份。这也是虚空，也是大患。

2:22 What does a man get for all the toil and anxious striving with which he labors under the sun?

人在日光之下劳碌累心，在他一切的劳碌上得着什么呢？

2:23 All his days his work is pain and grief; even at night his mind does not rest. This too is meaningless.

因为他日日忧虑，他的劳苦成为愁烦，连夜间心也不安。这也是虚空。

2:24 A man can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in his work. This too, I see, is from the hand of God,

人莫强如吃喝，且在劳碌中享福，我看这也是出于 神的手。

2:25 for without him, who can eat or find enjoyment?

论到吃用、享福，谁能胜过我呢？

2:26 To the man who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness, but to the sinner he gives the task of gathering and storing up wealth to hand it over to the one who pleases God. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.

神喜悦谁，就给谁智慧、知识和喜乐，惟有罪人， 神使他劳苦，叫他将所收聚的、所堆积的归给 神所喜悦的人。这也是虚空，也是捕风。

Ecclesiastes

3:1 There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven:

凡事都有定期，天下万务都有定时。

3:2 a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot,

生有时，死有时；栽种有时，拔出所栽种的也有时；

3:3 a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build,

杀戮有时，医治有时；拆毁有时，建造有时；

3:4 a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance,

哭有时，笑有时；哀恸有时，跳舞有时；

3:5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain,

抛掷石头有时，堆聚石头有时；怀抱有时，不怀抱有时；

3:6 a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away,

寻找有时，失落有时；保守有时，舍弃有时；

3:7 a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak,

撕裂有时，缝补有时；静默有时，言语有时；

3:8 a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.

喜爱有时，恨恶有时；争战有时，和好有时。

3:9 What does the worker gain from his toil?

这样看来，作事的人在他的劳碌上有什么益处呢？

3:10 I have seen the burden God has laid on men.

我见 神叫世人劳苦，使他们在其中受经练。

3:11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end.

神造万物，各按其时成为美好，又将永生安置在世人心里（“永生”原文作“永远”）。然而 神从始至终的作为，人不能参透。

3:12 I know that there is nothing better for men than to be happy and do good while they live.

我知道世人，莫强如终身喜乐行善，

3:13 That everyone may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all his toil--this is the gift of God.

并且人人吃喝，在他一切劳碌中享福，这也是 神的恩赐。

3:14 I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it so that men will revere him.

我知道 神一切所作的都必永存，无所增添，无所减少。 神这样行，是要人在他面前存敬畏的心。

3:15 Whatever is has already been, and what will be has been before; and God will call the past to account.

现今的事早先就有了，将来的事早已也有了，并且 神使已过的事重新再来（或作“并且 神再寻回已过的事”）。

3:16 And I saw something else under the sun: In the place of judgment--wickedness was there, in the place of justice--wickedness was there.

我又见日光之下，在审判之处有奸恶，在公义之处也有奸恶。

3:17 I thought in my heart, "God will bring to judgment both the righteous and the wicked, for there will be a time for every activity, a time for every deed."

我心里说： 神必审判义人和恶人，因为在那里，各样事务，一切工作，都有定时。

3:18 I also thought, "As for men, God tests them so that they may see that they are like the animals.

我心里说：这乃为世人的缘故，是 神要试验他们，使他们觉得自己不过像兽一样。

3:19 Man's fate is like that of the animals; the same fate awaits them both: As one dies, so dies the other. All have the same breath ; man has no advantage over the animal. Everything is meaningless.

因为世人遭遇的，兽也遭遇，所遭遇的都是一样；这个怎样死，那个也怎样死，气息都是一样。人不能强于兽，都是虚空。

3:20 All go to the same place; all come from dust, and to dust all return.

都归一处，都是出于尘土，也都归于尘土。

3:21 Who knows if the spirit of man rises upward and if the spirit of the animal goes down into the earth?"

谁知道人的灵是往上升，兽的魂是下入地呢？

3:22 So I saw that there is nothing better for a man than to enjoy his work, because that is his lot. For who can bring him to see what will happen after him?

4:1 Again I looked and saw all the oppression that was taking place under the sun: I saw the tears of the oppressed-- and they have no comforter; power was on the side of their oppressors-- and they have no comforter.

我又转念，见日光之下所行的一切欺压。看哪，受欺压的流泪，且无人安慰；欺压他们的有势力，也无人安慰他们。

4:2 And I declared that the dead, who had already died, are happier than the living, who are still alive.

因此，我赞叹那早已死的死人，胜过那还活着的活人。

4:3 But better than both is he who has not yet been, who has not seen the evil that is done under the sun.

并且我以为那未曾生的，就是未见过日光之下恶事的，比这两等人更强。

4:4 And I saw that all labor and all achievement spring from man's envy of his neighbor. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.

我又见人为一切的劳碌和各样灵巧的工作就被邻舍嫉妒。这也是虚空，也是捕风。

4:5 The fool folds his hands and ruins himself.

愚昧人抱着手，吃自己的肉；

4:6 Better one handful with tranquillity than two handfuls with toil and chasing after the wind.

满了一把，得享安静，强如满了两把，劳碌捕风。

4:7 Again I saw something meaningless under the sun:

我又转念，见日光之下有一件虚空的事：

4:8 There was a man all alone; he had neither son nor brother. There was no end to his toil, yet his eyes were not content with his wealth. "For whom am I toiling," he asked, "and why am I depriving myself of enjoyment?" This too is meaningless-- a miserable business!

有人孤单无二，无子无兄，竟劳碌不息，眼目也不以钱财为足。他说：我劳劳碌碌，刻苦自己，不享福乐，到底是为谁呢？这也是虚空，是极重的劳苦。

4:9 Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work:

两个人总比一个人好，因为二人劳碌同得美好的果效。

4:10 If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!

若是跌倒，这人可以扶起他的同伴；若是孤身跌倒，没有别人扶起他来，这人就有祸了！

4:11 Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone?

再者，二人同睡，就都暖和；一人独睡，怎能暖和呢？

4:12 Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.

有人攻胜孤身一人，若有二人便能敌挡他；三股合成的绳子不容易折断。

4:13 Better a poor but wise youth than an old but foolish king who no longer knows how to take warning.

贫穷而有智慧的少年人，胜过年老不肯纳谏的愚昧王。

4:14 The youth may have come from prison to the kingship, or he may have been born in poverty within his kingdom.

这人是从监牢中出来作王；在他国中，生来原是贫穷的。

4:15 I saw that all who lived and walked under the sun followed the youth, the king's successor.

我见日光之下一切行动的活人，都随从那第二位，就是起来代替老王的少年人。

4:16 There was no end to all the people who were before them. But those who came later were not pleased with the successor. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.

他所治理的众人，就是他的百姓，多得无数。在他后来的人，尚且不喜悦他。这真是虚空，也是捕风。

1:21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins."

1:22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet:

1:24 When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife.

2:7 Then Herod called the Magi secretly and found out from them the exact time the star had appeared.

2:8 He sent them to Bethlehem and said, "Go and make a careful search for the child. As soon as you find him, report to me, so that I too may go and worship him."

2:9 After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen in the east went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was.

2:10 When they saw the star, they were overjoyed.

2:13 When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. "Get up," he said, "take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him."

2:14 So he got up, took the child and his mother during the night and left for Egypt,

2:17 Then what was said through the prophet Jeremiah was fulfilled:

2:18 "A voice is heard in Ramah, weeping and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted, because they are no more."

2:19 After Herod died, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt

希律死了以后，有主的使者在埃及向约瑟梦中显现，说：

2:20 and said, "Get up, take the child and his mother and go to the land of Israel, for those who were trying to take the child's life are dead."

“起来！带着小孩子和他母亲往以色列地去，因为要害小孩子性命的人已经死了。”

2:21 So he got up, took the child and his mother and went to the land of Israel.

2:22 But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning in Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there. Having been warned in a dream, he withdrew to the district of Galilee,

只因听见亚基老接着他父亲希律作了犹太王，就怕往那里去，又在梦中被主指示，便往加利利境内去了。

2:23 and he went and lived in a town called Nazareth. So was fulfilled what was said through the prophets: "He will be called a Nazarene."

到了一座城，名叫拿撒勒，就住在那里。这要应验先知所说，他将称为拿撒勒人的话了。

Bible: mark10:1-12

10:1  Jesus then left that place and went into the region of Judea and across the Jordan. Again crowds of people came to him, and as was his custom, he taught them.

10:2 Some Pharisees came and tested him by asking, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?"

10:7 `For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife,

10:8 and the two will become one flesh.' So they are no longer two, but one.

既然如此，夫妻不再是两个人，乃是一体的了。

10:9 Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate."

所以，　神配合的，人不可分开。”

10:10 When they were in the house again, the disciples asked Jesus about this.

10:11 He answered, "Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery against her.

Jesus and his disciples were at supper.    

吃晚饭的时候，

The Devil had already put into the heart  of Judas  the son of Simon Iscariot...   

魔鬼已将卖耶稣的意思

(13:2) the thought of betraying Jesus.   

放在西门的儿子加略人犹大心里。

Jesus knew that  the Father had given him complete power.    

耶稣知道父已将万有交在他手里，

(13:3) He knew that he had come from God  and was going to God.   

且知道自己是从　神出来的，又要归到　神那里去，

So he rose from the table   took off his outer garment...   

就离席站起来脱了衣服，

(13:4) and tied a towel round his waist.   

拿一条手巾束腰，

Then he poured some water  into a washbasin...    

随后把水倒在盆里，

and began to wash the disciples' feet...    

就洗门徒的脚，

(13:5) and dry them  with the towel round his waist.   

并用自己所束的手巾擦干。

He came to Simon Peter.    

挨到西门彼得，

(13:6) Are you going to wash my feet  Lord?  

彼得对他说：“主啊，你洗我的脚吗？”

You do not understand now  what I am doing...    

耶稣回答说：“我所做的，你如今不知道，

(13:7) but you will understand later.   

后来必明白。 ”

Never  at any time  will you wash my feet.  

彼得说：“你永不可洗我的脚！”

If I do not wash your feet...    

耶稣说：“我若不洗你，

(13:8) you will no longer be my disciple.   

你就与我无分了。”

Lord...    

西门彼得说：“主啊，

do not wash only my feet  then.   

不但我的脚，

(13:9) Wash my hands and head  too.  

连手和头也要洗！。”

Those who have taken a bath  are completely clean...    

耶稣说：“凡洗过澡的人，

and do not need to wash themselves...    

只要把脚一洗，

except for their feet.    

全身就干净了；

All of you are clean.    

你们是干净的，

(13:10) All  except one.  

然而不都是干净的。”

Jesus already knew  who was going to betray him.    

耶稣原知道要卖他的是谁，

(13:11) That is why he said   "All of you  except one  are clean. "

所以说：“你们不都是干净的。”

After Jesus had washed their feet...    

  耶稣洗完了他们的脚，

he put his outer garment back on  and returned to his place at the table.    

就穿上衣服，又坐下，对他们说：

(13:12) Do you understand  what I have just done to you?   

“我向你们所做的，你们明白吗？  

You call me Teacher and Lord...    

你们称呼我夫子，称呼我主，

(13:13) and it is right that you should do so   because that is what I am.  

你们说的不错，我本来是。

I  your Lord and Teacher   have just washed your feet.  

我是你们的主，你们的夫子，尚且洗你们的脚，

(13:14) You  then  should wash one another's feet.

你们也当彼此洗脚。

I have set an example for you...    

我给你们作了榜样，

(13:15) so that you will do  just what I have done for you.   

叫你们照着我向你们所做的去做。

I am telling you the truth.    

我实实在在地告诉你们：

No slaves are greater than their master...    

仆人不能大于主人，

(13:16) and no messengers are greater  than the one who sent them.   

差人也不能大于差他的人。

Now that you know this truth...    

你们既知道这事，

(13:17) how happy you will be  if you put it into practice.   

若是去行就有福了。

I am not talking about all of you.    

我这话不是指着你们众人说的，

I know those I have chosen.    

我知道我所拣选的是谁。

But the scripture must come true that says:    

现在要应验经上的话，说：

(13:18) The man who shared my food  turned against me.   

‘同我吃饭的人，用脚踢我。’

I tell you this now before it happens...    

如今事情还没有成就，我要先告诉你们，

(13:19) so that when it does happen   you will believe that "I Am Who I Am."  

叫你们到事情成就的时候，可以信我是基督。  

I am telling you the truth.    

我实实在在地告诉你们：

Whoever receives anyone I send  receives me also...    

有人接待我所差遣的，就是接待我；

(13:20) and whoever receives me  receives him who sent me.   

接待我，就是接待那差遣我的。”

After Jesus had said this...    

耶稣说了这话，

he was deeply troubled  and declared openly:    

心里忧愁，就明说：

I am telling you the truth.    

“我实实在在地告诉你们：

(13:21) One of you is going to betray me.   

你们中间有一个人要卖我了。”

(13:22) The disciples looked at one another   completely puzzled about whom he meant.  

门徒彼此对看，猜不透所说的是谁。

One of the disciples   the one whom Jesus loved...   

有一个门徒，是耶稣所爱的，

(13:22) was sitting next to Jesus.   

侧身挨近耶稣的怀里。

Simon Peter motioned to him.    

西门彼得点头对他说：

(13:24) Ask him whom he is talking about.   

“你告诉我们，主是指着谁说的。”

So that disciple  moved closer to Jesus' side.    

那门徒便就势靠着耶稣的胸膛，

(13:25) Who is it  Lord?  

问他说：“主啊，是谁呢？”

I will dip some bread in the sauce  and give it to him.    

耶稣回答说：“我蘸一点饼给谁，

He is the man.    

就是谁。”

So he took a piece of bread  dipped it...   

耶稣就蘸了一点饼，

(13:26) and gave it to Judas   the son of Simon Iscariot.  

递给加略人西门的儿子犹大。

As soon as Judas took the bread   Satan entered into him.   

他吃了以后，撒但就入了他的心。

(13:27) Hurry  and do what you must.  

耶稣便对他说：“你所做的，快做吧！”

(13:28) None of the others at the table understood  why Jesus said this to him.   

同席的人，没有一个知道是为甚么对他说这话。

Since Judas was  in charge of the money bag...    

有人因犹大带着钱囊，

some of the disciples thought  that Jesus had told him...    

以为耶稣是对他说：

to go and buy  what they needed for the festival...    

“你去买我们过节所应用的东西”，

(13:29) or to give something to the poor.   

或是叫他拿甚么賙济穷人。

Judas accepted the bread  and went out at once.    

犹大受了那点饼，立刻就出去。

(13:30) It was night.   

那时候是夜间了。

After Judas had left  Jesus said.:   

他既出去，耶稣就说：

Now the Son of Man's glory is revealed.    

“如今人子得了荣耀，

(13:31) Now God's glory is revealed through him.   

　神在人子身上也得了荣耀。

And if God's glory is revealed through him...    

神要因自己

then God will reveal the glory  of the Son of Man in himself.    

荣耀人子，

(13:32) And he will do so at once.   

并且要快快地荣耀他。

My children...    

小子们，

I shall not be with you very much longer.    

我还有不多的时候与你们同在，

You will look for me  but I tell you now  what I told the Jewish authorities:   

后来你们要找我，但我所去的地方你们不能到。这话我曾对犹太人说过，如今也照样对你们说。

(13:33) You cannot go where I am going.

And now I give you a new commandment:

Love one another.    

彼此相爱；

(13:34) As I have loved you   so you must love one another.

If you have love for one another...    

你们若有彼此相爱的心，

(13:35) then everyone will know  that you are my disciples.   

众人因此就认出你们是我的门徒了。”

Where are you going  Lord?   

西门彼得问耶稣说：“主往哪里去？”

You cannot follow me now  where I am going...    

耶稣回答说：“我所去的地方，你现在不能跟我去，

(13:36) but later you will follow me.   

后来却要跟我去。”

(13:37) Lord  why can't I follow you now?  I am ready to die for you.  

彼得说：“主啊，我为甚么现在不能跟你去？我愿意为你舍命。”

Are you really ready to die for me?    

  耶稣说：“你愿意为我舍命吗？

I am telling you the truth.    

我实实在在地告诉你：

(13:38) Before the rooster crows  you will say  three times that you do not know me.  

鸡叫以先，你要三次不认我。

Do not be worried and upset.    

你们心里不要忧愁，

Believe in God...    

你们信　神，

(14:1) and believe  also  in me.

也当信我。

There are many rooms  in my Father's house...    

在我父的家里有许多住处；若是没有，我就早已告诉你们了；我去原是为你们预备地方去。

and I am going to prepare a place for you.

(14:2) I would not tell you this if it were not so.   

在我父的家里有许多住处；若是没有，我就早已告诉你们了；我去原是为你们预备地方去。

And after I go and prepare a place for you   I will come back and take you to myself...   

我若去为你们预备了地方，就必再来接你们到我那里去；

(14:3) so that you will be where I am.   

我在哪里，叫你们也在那里。

(14:4) You know the way that leads  to the place where I am going.   

我往哪里去，你们知道；那条路，你们也知道（注：有古卷作“我往哪里去，你们知道那条路”）。”

Lord  we do not know  where you are going...   

多马对他说：“主啊，我们不知道你往哪里去，

(14:5) so how can we know the way to get there?   

怎么知道那条路呢？ ”

I am the way...    

耶稣说：“我就是道路、

the truth  and the life.   

真理、生命；

(14:6) No one goes to the Father except by me.   

若不藉着我，没有人能到父那里去。

Now that you have known me   you will know my Father also.   

你们若认识我，也就认识我的父。

(14:7) And from now on   you do know him  and you have seen him.

从今以后，你们认识他，并且已经看见他。”

Lord...    

腓力对他说：“求主

show us the Father.    

将父显给我们看，

(14:8) That is all we need.   

我们就知足了。”

For a long time  I have been with you all.   

耶稣对他说：“腓力，我与你们同在这样长久，

Yet you do not know me  Philip?   

你还不认识我吗？

Whoever has seen me has seen the Father.    

人看见了我，就是看见了父，

(14:9) Why  then  do you say   "Show us the Father"?

你怎么说‘将父显给我们看’呢？

Do you not believe  Philip  that I am  in the Father and the Father is in me?  

我在父里面，父在我里面，你不信吗？

The words I have spoken to you  do not come from me.    

我对你们所说的话，不是凭着自己说的，

(14:10) The Father  who remains in me   does his own work.

乃是住在我里面的父做他自己的事。

Believe me when I say that I am in the Father  and the Father is in me.    

  你们当信我，我在父里面，父在我里面；

(14:11) If not  believe because of the things I do.  

即或不信，也当因我所做的事信我。  

I am telling you the truth.    

我实实在在地告诉你们：

Those who believe in me will do what I do.  Yes  they will do even greater things...   

我所做的事，信我的人也要做；并且要做比这更大的事，

(14:12) because I am going to the Father.   

因为我往父那里去。

And I will do whatever you ask for  in my name...    

你们奉我的名无论求甚么，我必成就，

(14:13) so that the Father's glory  will be shown through the Son.   

叫父因儿子得荣耀。

If you ask me for anything in my name...    

只要你们奉我的名所求...

(14:14) I will do it.   

你们若奉我的名求甚么，我必成就。

(14:15) If you love me   you will obey my commandments.  

你们若爱我，就必遵守我的命令。

I will ask the Father   and he will give you another Helper...   

我要求父，父就另外赐给你们一位保惠师（注：或作“训慰师”。下同），

(14:16) who will stay with you forever.   

叫他永远与你们同在，

He is the Spirit  who reveals the truth about God.    

就是真理的圣灵，

The world cannot receive him   because it cannot see him or know him.   

乃世人不能接受的，因为不见他，也不认识他；

(14:17) But you know him   because he remains with you and is in you.  

你们却认识他，因他常与你们同在，也要在你们里面。

(14:18) When I go  you will not be left all alone.  I will come back to you.  

我不撇下你们为孤儿，我必到你们这里来。

In a little while   the world will see me no more...   

还有不多的时候，世人不再看见我；

but you will see me.    

你们却看见我，

(14:19) And because I live  you also will live.  

因为我活着，你们也要活着。

When that day comes...    

到那日

(14:20) you will know that I am in my Father   and that you are in me  just as I am in you.

你们就知道我在父里面，你们在我里面，我也在你们里面。

Those who accept my commandments  and obey them are the ones who love me.    

有了我的命令又遵守的，这人就是爱我的；

My Father will love those who love me.    

爱我的必蒙我父爱他，

(14:21) I  too  will love them  and reveal myself to them.

我也要爱他，并且要向他显现。”

Judas  not Judas Iscariot  said.:  

犹大（不是加略人犹大）问耶稣说：

(14:22) Lord  how can it be that you will  reveal yourself to us and not to the world?  

“主啊，为甚么要向我们显现，不向世人显现呢？”

Those who love me will obey my teaching.    

耶稣回答说：“人若爱我，就必遵守我的道，

(14:23) My Father will love them  and my Father  and I will come to them and live with them.  

我父也必爱他，并且我们要到他那里去，与他同住。

Those who do not love me  do not obey my teaching.    

不爱我的人就不遵守我的道，

(14:24) The teaching you have heard is not mine   but comes from the Father who sent me.  

你们所听见的道不是我的，乃是差我来之父的道。

(14:25) I have told you this while I am still with you.   

我还与你们同住的时候，已将这些话对你们说了。

The Helper  the Holy Spirit   whom the Father will send in my name...  

但保惠师，就是父因我的名所要差来的圣灵，

(14:26) will teach you everything and  make you remember all that I have told you.   

他要将一切的事指教你们，并且要叫你们想起我对你们所说的一切话。

Peace is what I leave with you.    

我留下平安给你们，

It is my own peace that I give you.    

我将我的平安赐给你们。

I do not give it as the world does.    

我所赐的，不像世人所赐的；

(14:27)  Do not be worried and upset.  Do not be afraid.   

你们心里不要忧愁，也不要胆怯。

You heard me say to you   "I am leaving  but I will come back to you."  

你们听见我对你们说了，我去还要到你们这里来。

If you loved me  you would be glad  that I am going to the Father...   

你们若爱我，因我到父那里去，就必喜乐，

(14:28) for he is greater than I.   

因为父是比我大的。

I have told you this now  before it all happens...    

现在事情还没有成就，我预先告诉你们，

(14:29) so that when it does happen   you will believe.  

叫你们到事情成就的时候，就可以信。

I cannot talk with you much longer...    

以后我不再和你们多说话，

because the ruler of this world is coming.    

因为这世界的王将到，

(14:30)\N但要叫世人知道 He has no power over me   but the world must know...  

他在我里面是毫无所有；

that I love the Father  and that is why  I do everything as he commands me.   

我爱父，并且父怎样吩咐我，我就怎样行。

(14:31) Come  let us go from this place.  

起来，我们走吧。

(15:1) I am the real vine   and my Father is the gardener.  

我是真葡萄树，我父是栽培的人。

He breaks off every branch in me  that does not bear fruit...    

凡属我不结果子的枝子，他就剪去；

and he prunes every branch  that does bear fruit...    

凡结果子的，他就修理干净，

(15:2) so that it will be clean and bear more fruit.   

使枝子结果子更多。

(15:3) You have been made clean already  by the teaching I have given you.   

现在你们因我讲给你们的道，已经干净了。

Remain united to me...    

你们要常在我里面，

and I will remain united to you.    

我也常在你们里面。

A branch cannot bear fruit by itself.    

枝子若不常在葡萄树上，

It can do so only if it remains on the vine.    

自己就不能结果子；

(15:4) In the same way  you cannot bear fruit  unless you remain in me.  

你们若不常在我里面，也是这样。

I am the vine  and you are the branches.   

我是葡萄树，你们是枝子；

Those who remain in me  and I in them   will bear much fruit...  

常在我里面的，我也常在他里面，这人就多结果子。

(15:5) for you can do nothing without me.   

因为离了我，你们就不能做甚么。

Those who do not remain in me  are thrown out like a branch and dry up.    

人若不常在我里面，就像枝子丢在外面枯干，

Such branches are gathered up  and thrown into the fire...    

人拾起来

(15:6) where they are burned.   

扔在火里烧了。

(15:7) If you remain in me  and my words remain in you...   

你们若常在我里面，我的话也常在你们里面；凡你们所愿意的，祈求就给你们成就。

then you will ask for anything you wish   and you shall have it.   

你们多结果子，

My Father's glory is shown  by your bearing much fruit...    

我父就因此得荣耀，

(15:8) and in this way  you become my disciples.  

你们也就是我的门徒了。

I love you  just as the Father loves me.   

我爱你们，正如父爱我一样，

(15:9) Remain in my love.   

你们要常在我的爱里。

If you obey my commands   you will remain in my love...   

你们若遵守我的命令，就常在我的爱里；

(15:10) just as I have obeyed my Father's  commands  and remain in his love.  

正如我遵守了我父的命令，常在他的爱里。

I have told you this  so that my joy may be in you...    

这些事我已经对你们说了，是要叫我的喜乐存在你们心里，

(15:11) and that your joy may be complete.   

并叫你们的喜乐可以满足。

(15:12) My commandment is this.:  Love one another  just as I love you.  

你们要彼此相爱，像我爱你们一样，这就是我的命令。　

(15:13) The greatest love you can have  for your friends is to give your life for them.   

人为朋友舍命，人的爱心没有比这个大的。

(15:14) And you are my friends  if you do what I command you.   

你们若遵行我所吩咐的，就是我的朋友了。

I do not call you servants any longer...    

以后我不再称你们为仆人，

because servants do not know  what their master is doing.    

因仆人不知道主人所做的事；

(15:15) Instead  I call you friends  because I have  told you everything I heard from my Father.

我乃称你们为朋友，因我从我父所听见的，已经都告诉你们了。

You did not choose me.    

不是你们拣选了我，

I chose you...    

是我拣选了你们；

and appointed you  to go and bear much fruit...    

并且分派你们去结果子，

the kind of fruit that endures.    

叫你们的果子常存，

And so...    

使你们

(15:16) the Father will give you  whatever you ask of him in my name.   

奉我的名，无论向父求甚么，他就赐给你们。

This  then  is what I command you:  

我这样吩咐你们，是要叫你们

(15:17) Love one another.   

彼此相爱。

If the world hates you...    

世人若恨你们，

(15:18) just remember that it has hated me first.   

你们知道（注：或作“该知道”）恨你们以先，已经恨我了。

If you belonged to the world   then the world would love you as its own.   

你们若属世界，世界必爱属自己的；

But I chose you from this world   and you do not belong to it.   

只因你们不属世界，乃是我从世界中拣选了你们，

(15:19) That is why the world hates you.   

所以世界就恨你们。

Remember what I told you.  "Slaves are not greater than their master. "    

  你们要记念我从前对你们所说的话：‘仆人不能大于主人。’

If people persecuted me   they will persecute you  too.  

他们若逼迫了我，也要逼迫你们；

(15:20) If they obeyed my teaching   they will obey yours  too.

若遵守了我的话，也要遵守你们的话。  

But they will do all this to you  because you are mine...    

但他们因我的名要向你们行这一切的事，

(15:21) for they do not know the One who sent me.   

因为他们不认识那差我来的。

They would not have been guilty of sin  if I had not come and spoken to them.    

我若没有来教训他们，他们就没有罪；

(15:22) As it is  they no longer have  any excuse for their sin.  

但如今他们的罪无可推诿了。  

(15:23) Whoever hates me hates my Father also.   

恨我的，也恨我的父。

They would not have been guilty of sin...    

我若没有在他们中间行过别人未曾行的事，

if I had not done among them  the things that no one else ever did.    

他们就没有罪；

As it is  they have seen what I did...   

但如今连我与我的父，

(15:24) and they hate both me and my Father.   

他们也看见也恨恶了。

This  however  was bound to happen...  

这要应验

so that what is written in their Law  may come true.:    

他们律法上所写的话，

(15:25) They hated me for no reason at all.    

说：‘他们无故地恨我。’

The Helper will come...    

但我要从父那里差保惠师来，

the Spirit who reveals the truth about God  and who comes from the Father.    

就是从父出来真理的圣灵，

(15:26) I will send him to you from the Father   and he will speak about me.  

他来了，就要为我作见证。

And you  too  will speak about me...  

你们也要作见证，

(15:27) because you have been with me  from the very beginning.   

因为你们从起头就与我同在。

(16:1) I have told you this  so that you will not give up your faith.   

我已将这些事告诉你们，使你们不至于跌倒。

You will be expelled from the synagogues...    

人要把你们赶出会堂，

and the time will come  when those who kill you...    

并且时候将到，

(16:2) will think that by doing this  they are serving God.   

凡杀你们的，就以为是事奉神。

People will do these things to you...    

他们这样行，

(16:3) because they have not known  either the Father or me.   

是因未曾认识父，也未曾认识我。

But I have told you this...    

我将这事告诉你们，

so that when the time comes  for them to do these things...    

是叫你们到了时候，

you will remember what I told you.    

可以想起我对你们说过了。

(16:4) I did not tell you these things  at the beginning  for I was with you.  

我起先没有将这事告诉你们，因为我与你们同在。

But now I am going to him who sent me...    

现今我往差我来的父那里去，

(16:5) yet none of you asks me where I am going.   

你们中间并没有人问我：‘你往哪里去？’

(16:6) And now that I have told you   your hearts are full of sadness.  

只因我将这事告诉你们，你们就满心忧愁。

But I am telling you the truth.    

然而我将真情告诉你们，

It is better for you that I go away.    

我去是与你们有益的。

Because if I do not go   the Helper will not come to you.   

我若不去，保惠师就不到你们这里来；

(16:7) But if I do go away   then I will send him to you.  

我若去，就差他来。

And when he comes   he will prove to the people of the world...   

他既来了，就要叫世人

that they are wrong about sin   and about what is right...   

为罪、为义、

(16:8) and about God's judgment.   

为审判，自己责备自己。

(16:9) They are wrong about sin  because they do not believe in me.   

为罪，是因他们不信我；

They are wrong about what is right...    

为义，

(16:10) because I am going to the Father  and you will not see me anymore.   

是因我往父那里去，你们就不再见我；

And they are wrong about judgment...    

为审判，

because the ruler of this world...    

是因这世界的王

(16:11) has already been judged.   

受了审判。”

I have much more to tell you...    

我还有好些事要告诉你们，

(16:12) but now  it would be too much  for you to bear.  

但你们现在担当不了（注：或作“不能领会”）。

When  however  the Spirit comes   who reveals the truth about God...

只等真理的圣灵来了，

he will lead you into all the truth.    

他要引导你们明白（注：原文作“进入”）一切的真理，

He will not speak on his own authority   but he will speak of what he hears...   

因为他不是凭自己说的，

(16:13) and will tell you of things to come.   

乃是把他所听见的都说出来，并要把将来的事告诉你们。  

(16:14) He will give me glory  because he will  take what I say and tell it to you.  

他要荣耀我，因为他要将受于我的告诉你们。

All that my Father has is mine.    

凡父所有的，都是我的，

(16:15) That is why I said that the Spirit will take  what I give him and tell it to you.   

所以我说，他要将受于我的告诉你们。

In a little while   you will not see me anymore.   

等不多时，你们就不得见我；

(16:16) And then  a little while later   you will see me.

再等不多时，你们还要见我。”

Some of his disciples asked  among themselves  "What does this mean?   

有几个门徒就彼此说：

"He tells us that in a little while   we will not see him...  

再等不多时，你们还要见我’； and then a little while later   we will see him.   "

“他对我们说‘等不多时，你们就不得见我；

(16:17) "and he also says  'It is because  I am going to the Father. '  

又说‘因我往父那里去’，这是甚么意思呢？”

门徒彼此说：“他说‘等不多时’到底是甚么意思呢？ What does this 'a little while' mean?"   

(16:18) We don't know what he is talking about.    

我们不明白他所说的话。”

Jesus knew  that they wanted to question him.    

耶稣看出他们要问他，就说：

I said  "In a little while   you will not see me...  

“我说‘等不多时，你们就不得见我；

and then  a little while later   you will see me.    

再等不多时，你们还要见我’，

(16:19)  Is this what you are asking about  among yourselves?   

你们为这话彼此相问吗？

I am telling you the truth.    

我实实在在地告诉你们：

You will cry and weep   but the world will be glad.   

你们将要痛哭、哀号，世人倒要喜乐；

(16:20) You will be sad   but your sadness will turn into gladness.  

你们将要忧愁，然而你们的忧愁要变为喜乐。

When a woman is about to give birth  she is  sad because her hour of suffering has come.   

妇人生产的时候就忧愁，因为她的时候到了；

But when the baby is born   she forgets her suffering...   

既生了孩子，就不再记念那苦楚，

(16:21) because she is happy  that a baby has been born into the world.   

因为欢喜世上生了一个人。

That is how it is with you.  Now you are sad...    

你们现在也是忧愁，

but I will see you again  and your hearts  will be filled with gladness...   

但我要再见你们，你们的心就喜乐了；

(16:22)  the kind of gladness  that no one can take away from you.   

这喜乐也没有人能夺去。

When that day comes   you will not ask me for anything.   

到那日，你们甚么也就不问我了。

I am telling you the truth.    

我实实在在地告诉你们：

(16:23) The Father will give you  whatever you ask of him in my name.   

你们若向父求甚么，他必因我的名赐给你们。

Until now  you have not asked for anything  in my name.   

向来你们没有奉我的名求甚么，

Ask  and you will receive...   

如今你们求就必得着，

(16:24) so that your happiness may be complete.   

叫你们的喜乐可以满足。  

I have used figures of speech  to tell you these things.    

这些事，我是用比喻对你们说的；

But the time will come  when I will not do so...    

时候将到，我不再用比喻对你们说，

(16:25) but will speak to you plainly  about the Father.   

乃要将父明明地告诉你们。

When that day comes   you will ask him in my name.   

到那日，你们要奉我的名祈求；

(16:26) And I do not say  that I will ask him on your behalf...   

我并不对你们说，我要为你们求父。

for the Father himself loves you.    

父自己爱你们，

(16:27) He loves you because you love me  and have believed that I came from God.   

因为你们已经爱我，又信我是从父出来的。

I did come from the Father   and I came into the world...   

我从父出来，到了世界；

(16:28) and now I am leaving the world  and going to the Father.   

我又离开世界，往父那里去。”

Then his disciples said to him...    

门徒说：

(16:29) "Now you are speaking plainly  without using figures of speech.   

“如今你是明说，并不用比喻了。

现在我们晓得你凡事都知道， We know now that you know everything."   

"You do not need to have someone  ask you questions.   

因此我们信你是从　神出来的。” (16:30) This makes us believe  that you came from God. ""    "

也不用人问你，

(16:31)\N看哪，时候将到，且是已经到了， Do you believe now?  The time is coming  it is already here...  

耶稣说：“现在你们信吗？

when all of you will be scattered   each of you to your own home...   

你们要分散，各归自己的地方去，

and I will be left all alone.    

留下我独自一人；

(16:32) But I am not really alone   because the Father is with me.  

其实我不是独自一人，因为有父与我同在。  

I have told you this so that  you will have peace by being united to me.    

我将这些事告诉你们，是要叫你们在我里面有平安。

The world will make you suffer.  But be brave.    

在世上你们有苦难，但你们可以放心，

(16:33) I have defeated the world.   

我已经胜了世界。”

After Jesus finished saying this   he looked up to heaven and said.:   

耶稣说了这话，就举目望天说：

Father...    

“父啊，

the hour has come.    

时候到了，

Give glory to your Son...    

愿你荣耀你的儿子，

(17:1) so that the Son may give glory to you.   

使儿子也荣耀你；

For you gave him authority over all people...    

正如你曾赐给他权柄，管理凡有血气的，

(17:2) so that he might give eternal life  to all those you gave him.   

叫他将永生赐给你所赐给他的人。

And eternal life means to know you   the only true God...   

认识你独一的真　神，并且认识你所差来的耶稣基督，

(17:3) and to know Jesus Christ  whom you sent.  

这就是永生。

I have shown your glory on Earth.    

我在地上已经荣耀你，

(17:4) I have finished the work you gave me to do.   

你所托付我的事，我已成全了。

Father...    

父啊，

give me glory in your presence now...    

现在求你使我同你享荣耀，

(17:5) the same glory I had with you  before the world was made.   

就是未有世界以先，我同你所有的荣耀。

I have made you known  to those you gave me out of the world.    

你从世上赐给我的人，

They belonged to you   and you gave them to me.   

我已将你的名显明与他们。

(17:6) They have obeyed your word...   

他们本是你的，你将他们赐给我，他们也遵守了你的道。

(17:7) and now they know that everything  you gave me comes from you.   

如今他们知道，凡你所赐给我的，都是从你那里来的；

I gave them the message that you gave me   and they received it.   

因为你所赐给我的道，我已经赐给他们。他们也领受了，

They know that it is true  that I came from you...    

又确实知道，我是从你出来的，

(17:8) and they believe that you sent me.   

并且信你差了我来。

I pray for them.    

我为他们祈求，

I do not pray for the world   but for those you gave me...   

不为世人祈求，却为你所赐给我的人祈求，

(17:9) for they belong to you.   

因他们本是你的。

All I have is yours...    

凡是我的都是你的，

and all you have is mine.    

你的也是我的，

(17:10)  And my glory is shown through them.   

并且我因他们得了荣耀。

And now I am coming to you.    

从今以后，我不在世上，

I am no longer in the world   but they are in the world.   

他们却在世上；我往你那里去。

Holy Father  keep them safe  by the power of your name...   

圣父啊，求你因你所赐给我的名保守他们，

the name you gave me...    

圣父啊，求你因你所赐给我的名保守他们，

so that they may be one...    

叫他们合而为一，

(17:11) just as you and I are one.   

像我们一样。

While I was with them  I kept them safe  by the power of your name...   

我与他们同在的时候，

the name you gave me.    

因你所赐给我的名保守了他们，

I protected them   and not one of them was lost...   

我也护卫了他们；

(17:12) except the man who was bound to be lost   so that the Scripture might come true.  

其中除了那灭亡之子，没有一个灭亡的，好叫经上的话得应验。

And now  I am coming to you   and I say these things in the world...  

现在我往你那里去，我还在世上说这话，

(17:13) so that they may have my joy in their hearts  in all its fullness.   

是叫他们心里充满我的喜乐。

I gave them your message   and the world hated them...   

我已将你的道赐给他们。世界又恨他们，

(17:14) because they do not belong to the world   just as I do not belong to the world.  

因为他们不属世界，正如我不属世界一样。

I do not ask you  to take them out of the world...    

我不求你叫他们离开世界，

(17:15) but I do ask you to keep them safe  from the Evil One.   

只求你保守他们脱离那恶者（注：或作“ 脱离罪恶”）。

(17:16) Just as I do not belong to the world   they do not belong to the world.  

他们不属世界，正如我不属世界一样。

Dedicate them to yourself  by means of the truth.    

求你用真理使他们成圣，

(17:17) Your Word is truth.   

你的道就是真理。  

(17:18) I sent them into the world   just as you sent me into the world.  

你怎样差我到世上，我也照样差他们到世上。

And for their sake   I dedicate myself to you...   

我为他们的缘故，自己分别为圣，

(17:19) in order that they  too   may be truly dedicated to you.

叫他们也因真理成圣。  

(17:20) I pray not only for them  but also for those  who believe in me because of their message.  

我不但为这些人祈求，也为那些因他们的话信我的人祈求，

I pray that they may all be one.    

使他们都合而为一。

Father...    

正如你父在我里面，我在你里面，使他们也在我们里面，

may they be in us   just as you are in me and I am in you.   

正如你父在我里面，我在你里面，使他们也在我们里面，

(17:21) May they be one  so that the world  will believe that you sent me.  

叫世人可以信你差了我来。

I gave them the same glory you gave me...    

你所赐给我的荣耀，我已赐给他们，

(17:22) so that they may be one   just as you and I are one...  

使他们合而为一，像我们合而为一。  

I in them  and you in me...   

我在他们里面，你在我里面，

so that they may be completely one...    

使他们完完全全地合而为一，

in order that the world may know  that you sent me...    

叫世人知道你差了我来，

(17:23) and that you love them as you love me.   

也知道你爱他们如同爱我一样。

Father  you have given them to me...   

父啊，我在哪里，

and I want them to be with me where I am...    

愿你所赐给我的人也同我在那里，

so that they may see my glory   the glory you gave me...   

叫他们看见你所赐给我的荣耀。

(17:24) for you loved me  before the world was made.   

因为创立世界以前，你已经爱我了。

Righteous Father...    

公义的父啊，

the world does not know you   but I know you...   

世人未曾认识你，我却认识你，

(17:25) and these know that you sent me.   

这些人也知道你差了我来。

I made you known to them   and I will continue to do so...   

我已将你的名指示他们，还要指示他们，

in order that the love you have for me  may be in them...    

使你所爱我的爱在他们里面，

(17:26) and so that I also may be in them.   

我也在他们里面。”

After Jesus had said this prayer...    

耶稣说了这话，

he left with his disciples  and went across Kidron Brook.    

就同门徒出去，过了汲沦溪，

There was a garden in that place...    

在那里有一个园子，

(18:1) and Jesus and his disciples went in.   

他和门徒进去了。

Judas  the traitor  knew where it was...  

卖耶稣的犹大也知道那地方，

(18:2) because many times  Jesus had met there with his disciples.   

因为耶稣和门徒屡次上那里去聚集。

So Judas went to the garden   taking with him a group of Roman soldiers...   

犹大领了一队兵

and some temple guards  sent by the chief priests and the Pharisees.    

和祭司长并法利赛人的差役，

(18:3) They were armed   and carried lanterns and torches.  

拿着灯笼、火把、兵器，就来到园里。

Jesus knew everything  that was going to happen to him...    

耶稣知道将要临到自己的一切事，

so he stepped forward and asked them.:    

就出来对他们说：

(18:4)\N他们回答说：“找拿撒勒人耶稣。 -Who is it you are looking for?  -Jesus of Nazareth.   

“你们找谁？”

Judas  the traitor   was standing there with them...  

”耶稣说：“我就是！”卖他的犹大也同他们站在那里。

when Jesus said to them.:    

”耶稣说：“我就是！”卖他的犹大也同他们站在那里。

(18:5) I am he.   

”耶稣说：“我就是！”卖他的犹大也同他们站在那里。

(18:6) They moved back and fell to the ground.   

耶稣一说“我就是”，他们就退后倒在地上。

Again Jesus asked them.:    

他又问他们说：

Who is it you are looking for?    

“你们找谁？”

(18:7) Jesus of Nazareth.   

他们说：“找拿撒勒人耶稣。”

I have already told you that I am he.    

耶稣说：“我已经告诉你们，我就是。

If  then  you are looking for me...  

你们若找我，

(18:8) let these others go.   

就让这些人去吧！”

He said this so that  what he had said might come true.:    

这要应验耶稣从前的话，说：

(18:9) "Father  I have not lost  even one of those you gave me. "   

“你所赐给我的人，我没有失落一个。”

Simon Peter  who had a sword  drew it  and struck the High Priest's slave...  

西门彼得带着一把刀，就拔出来，

cutting off his right ear.    

将大祭司的仆人砍了一刀，削掉他的右耳，

(18:10) The name of the slave was Malchus.   

那仆人名叫马勒古。

Put your sword back in its place!    

耶稣就对彼得说：“收刀入鞘吧！

(18:11) Do you think that I will not drink the cup  of suffering which my Father has given me?   

我父所给我的那杯，我岂可不喝呢？”

Then the Roman soldiers   with their commanding officer...   

那队兵和千夫长并犹太人的差役

and the Jewish guards arrested Jesus...    

就拿住耶稣，

(18:12) tied him up...   

把他捆绑了，

and took him first to Annas.    

先带到亚那面前，

(18:13) He was the father-in-law of Caiaphas   who was High Priest that year.  

因为亚那是本年作大祭司该亚法的岳父。

It was Caiaphas who had advised  the Jewish authorities...    

这该亚法就是从前向犹太人发议论

(18:14) that it was better  that one man should die for all the people.   

说“一个人替百姓死是有益的”那位。

Simon Peter and another disciple  followed Jesus.    

西门彼得跟着耶稣，还有一个门徒跟着。

That other disciple was well known  to the High Priest...    

那门徒是大祭司所认识的，

(18:15) so he went with Jesus into the courtyard  of the High Priest's house...   

他就同耶稣进了大祭司的院子，

while Peter stayed outside by the gate.    

彼得却站在门外。

Then the other disciple went back out   spoke to the girl at the gate...   

大祭司所认识的那个门徒出来，和看门的使女说了一声，

(18:16) and brought Peter inside.   

就领彼得进去。

Aren't you also one of the disciples  of that man?    

那看门的使女对彼得说：“你不也是这人的门徒吗？”

(18:17) No  I am not.  

他说：“我不是。”

It was cold  so the servants and guards  had built a charcoal fire...   

仆人和差役因为天冷，就生了炭火，

and were standing around it   warming themselves.   

站在那里烤火，

(18:18) So Peter went over and stood with them   warming himself.  

彼得也同他们站着烤火。

(18:19) The High Priest questioned Jesus  about his disciples and about his teaching.   

大祭司就以耶稣的门徒和他的教训盘问他。  

Jesus answered.:    

耶稣回答说：

I have always spoken publicly to everyone.    

“我从来是明明地对世人说话。

All my teaching was done...    

我常在会堂和殿里，

in the synagogues and in the Temple   where all the people come together.   

就是犹太人聚集的地方教训人，

(19:20) I have never said anything in secret.   

我在暗地里并没有说甚么。  

Why  then  do you question me?  

你为甚么问我呢？

Question the people who heard me.  Ask them what I told them.    

可以问那听见的人，我对他们说的是甚么；

(19:21) They know what I said.   

我所说的，他们都知道。”

(19:22) How dare you talk like that  to the High Priest?   

耶稣说了这话，旁边站着的一个差役用手掌打他，说：“你这样回答大祭司吗？”

If I have said anything wrong...    

耶稣说：“我若说得不是，

tell everyone here what it was.    

你可以指证那不是；

But if I am right in what I have said...    

我若说得是，

(19:23) why do you hit me?   

你为甚么打我呢？”

(19:24) Then Annas sent him  still tied up   to Caiaphas  the High Priest.

亚那就把耶稣解到大祭司该亚法那里，仍是捆着解去的。

Peter was still standing there   keeping himself warm.   

西门彼得正站着烤火，

So the others said to him.:    

有人对他说：

Aren't you also one  of the disciples of that man?    

“你不也是他的门徒吗？”

No  I am not.   

彼得不承认，说：“我不是！”

(19:25) But Peter denied it.   

彼得不承认，说：“我不是！”

One of the High Priest's slaves...    

有大祭司的一个仆人，

a relative of the man  whose ear Peter had cut off  spoke up.   

是彼得削掉耳朵那人的亲属，说：

(19:26)\N彼得又不承认。 -Didn't I see you with him in the garden?  -No.   

“我不是看见你同他在园子里吗？”

(18:27) And at once  a rooster crowed.  

立时鸡就叫了。

Early in the morning...    

众人将耶稣从该亚法那里往衙门内解去，那时天还早，

Jesus was taken from Caiaphas' house  to the governor's palace.

The Jewish authorities  did not go inside the palace...    

他们自己却不进衙门，

for they wanted  to keep themselves ritually clean...    

恐怕染了污秽，

(18:28) in order to be able to eat the Passover meal.   

不能吃逾越节的筵席。  

So Pilate went outside to them and asked.:    

彼拉多就出来，到他们那里，说：

(18:29) What do you accuse this man of?   

“你们告这人是为甚么事呢？”

(18:30) We would not have brought him to you  if he had not committed a crime.   

他们回答说：“这人若不是作恶的，我们就不把他交给你。”

Then you yourselves take him  and try him according to your own law.    

彼拉多说：“你们自己带他去，按着你们的律法审问他吧！”

(18:31) We are not allowed to put anyone to death.   

犹太人说：“我们没有杀人的权柄。”

This happened in order to make come true  what Jesus had said...    

这要应验耶稣所说

(18:32) when he indicated  the kind of death he would die.   

自己将要怎样死的话了。

Pilate went back into the palace  and called Jesus.    

彼拉多又进了衙门，叫耶稣来，对他说：

(18:33)  Are you the King of the Jews?   

“你是犹太人的王吗？”

Does this question come from you...    

耶稣回答说：“这话是你自己说的，

(18:34) or have others told you about me?   

还是别人论我对你说的呢？”

Do you think I am a Jew?    

彼拉多说：“我岂是犹太人呢？

It was your own people and the chief priests  who handed you over to me.    

你本国的人和祭司长把你交给我，

(18:35) What have you done?   

你做了甚么事呢？”

My kingdom does not belong to this world.    

耶稣回答说：“我的国不属这世界。

If my kingdom belonged to this world...    

我的国若属这世界，

my followers would fight to keep me from  being handed over to the Jewish authorities.    

我的臣仆必要争战，使我不至于被交给犹太人；

(18:36) No. My kingdom does not belong here.   

只是我的国不属这世界。”

-Are you a king  then?  -You say that I am a king.   

彼拉多就对他说：“这样，你是王吗？”耶稣回答说：“你说我是王，

I was born and came into the world  for this one purpose...    

我为此而生，也为此来到世间，

to speak about the truth.    

特为给真理作见证。

(18:37) Whoever belongs to the truth listens to me.   

凡属真理的人就听我的话。”

And what is truth?    

  彼拉多说：“真理是甚么呢？”

Then Pilate went back outside  to the people and said to them.:    

说了这话，又出来到犹太人那里，对他们说：

(18:38) I cannot find any reason  to condemn him. But....   

“我查不出他有甚么罪来，  

According to the custom you have...    

但你们有个规矩，

I always set free a prisoner for you  during the Passover!    

在逾越节要我给你们释放一个人，

(18:39) Do you want me to set free for you  "the King of the Jews"?   

你们要我给你们释放犹太人的王吗？”

No!    

他们又喊着说：“不要这人

They answered him with a shout.:    

他们又喊着说：“不要这人，

Give us Barabbas!    

要巴拉巴！”

(18:40) Barabbas was a bandit.
